Dear Nursie,
Your very
nice letter received Monday
and I cannot tell you how glad
I was to hear from you, for I
was not sure that you would
write at all. I knew your
letter time I opened the mail
and pocketed it at once. I
could hardly wait until I gave
the people their mail before I
read it. I am sorry Nursie
that you doubted what I told
you, for I really and truly meant
every word I told you. I assure
you sweetheart that I would
not try to deceive you for I
think too much of you to do that,
and I hope you will be so frank

with me. You know so many
girls will tell a boy that they
love them better than any body,
and the very next one that
comes along tell them the
very same thing. I dont believe
you would do that Nursie and
tha is the reason I love you.
You seem to me as different
from other girls. Maybe it
is because I love you so that
makes you seem difference. Any-
way you are all the one I
know that I care a straw for.
Nursie darling, you have no idea
how I do love you. I can find no
words to express what I feel. I
think of you every day, and it is
with a thrill of pleasure when I
think that you love me, but when
I think that perhaps you are just
fooling me to see what I will say,

it makes me feel savage. If a
girl were to ever deceive me one
time, I would never have any
more use for her; that is I
never would go with her or have
any thing to do with her, not even
if I loved her ever so well.
I did not get to finish this letter
this morning so will tonight as
I have a chance to send it by Joe
to-morrow. Nursie Joe tells me that
you are going to Lanark again Sunday
and if you do, I want to be with
you. Will you go with me sweetheart?
If you dont I will not go, for I
dont want to go with any one else.
I am going to Hilliardville Sat-
urday to play a game of ball with
the Hilliardville boys and can not
come back until Sunday, but I
will sure be on the trainSunday morn-
ing; that is if you are going to be
there. I will go down to Lanark anyway

but if you are not on the train I am
coming back on first train, for it would
be no pleasure for me to be there
without you. If you have an oppor-
tunity please let me know before Sun-
day whether you will go with me
or whether you have other engage-
ments. Now Nursie I dont want
you to think that I am trying to force
you to go with me – You know that
I want to be with you – but if you
want to go with some one else, do
so, but please be honest and tell
me. I did not go to Jacksonville last
week. Walter – my brother – wanted me
to go, but I told him that I didnt
want to go. I have been offered a
position as manager of a store
at Lloyd. It is a good place
and it might pay me nice to take it, but
dont know as I will for then I would
be away from home – and you my
sweet little girl. I couldn't leave you.

'Tis late and I had better stop.
All are asleep but Joe and me.
I have some work to do out
near the school house this week
and will very likely come by the
school house Thursday eve, but
I expect it will be after school
is out, so if you will leave
a note with Joe telling me
whether I may be with you
at Lanark Sunday, I will get
it. I am anxious to be with
you again, I have lots to tell you
Be sure and go to Lanark
Sunday - for my sake sweetheart.
Excuse mistakes. I have hurried
so. Let me know Thursday if possible
