My Dear Nursie:
I am
going to try to write you
a few lines to-day, and if
you cant read it dont "cuss"
me for I have had so much
writing to do to-day until
my fingers ache now. But
I could write to you darling even
though I was sick. I have an
awful cold this week, the result
of my indiscretion last week,
but suppose I will "pull through"
Major and I got home at
eleven Sunday night and found
the place deserted. Mama be-
ing off. We have been "bating"
this week, but not cooking - I
cant come that just yet. I guess
Mama will be home to-day, and I wont

be sorry either. Nursie if
you go to the ball game Saturday week,
may I take you? Major is going
to ask Susie if he may take her
and I would like to take you. I
have something to tell you and
if I cant see you then I dont
know when I will have an op-
portunity. Nursie why will
you doubt what I feel you?
I am sure I have never done
anything that you should
doubt me. You know that
I love you better than any one
living, and I would ask
nothing better in the world
than your love, but Oh! the
inconsistency of girls. They tell
a boy that they love them just
because they think that is
what they ought to do, not
that they feel one bit of it. I
have never seen a girl before

that I hardly gave a second
thought, but Nursie sweet heart I
love you with as pure and
true a love as a boy ever
loved a girl. I know there
are plenty better boys than I
am but they will never love
you as I do. I could write
on and one, but havnt the time
now. If you havnt an engage-
ment to go to the ball game
please go with me. May be you
wont get tired of me in that
time. I must stop now as
I have lots to do. Please
write soon and a long letter.
Ever Yours,
Jno.H.Ashmore
